ALBERTA BUDDHIST VIHARA ASSOCIATION

The objectives of the Alberta Buddhist Vihara Association (ABVA) are to provide its membership and the greater Edmonton Community an understanding of Buddhism and its practice, particularly of the Theravada tradition. The activities of the ABVA are primarily through the Samatha-Vipassana Meditation Centre headed by Abbot Venerable Talgaswewe Seelananda with assistance from Venerable Galkulame Medhankara. The program offerings from the Centre include daily Buddha pooja, an annual pirith ceremony, sermons, public lectures and monthly Poya meditation programs, as well as Children's Dhamma School. These programs are open to the public and are advertised through the Centre website (www.samatha-vipassana.org) and other forms of communication.

The ABVA is a duly registered Association in the province of Alberta, and is a Registered Charitable Organization (Reg. No: 89304 3646 RR 0001) funded by membership dues and donations. As we are a Registered Charitable Association, all donations are Income Tax deductible. Your donations are much appreciated since these are the sole source of funds for our activities and to support daily activities and long-range plans.
